Calling all Runners – Register for the Great North Run Today!

The Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF) is calling on runners to join UCF’s team in the BUPA Great North Run 2010, which takes place in Newcastle Upon Tyne on Sunday 19th September, and raise funds to help local people who have been affected by cancer.

Sarah Atcheson from UCF said, "The Great North Run, from Newcastle to South Shields, is one of the biggest half marathons in the world which attracts over 50,000 runners each year. There are a limited number of places on the UCF Great North Run Team and we would encourage people to register as soon as possible to guarantee their place on this fantastic event.

"You can run, jog or walk the course - whatever feels comfortable for you. Once you reserve your place we will send you a fundraising and training pack and UCF staff are available for extra advice and support, if required. UCF participants stay in a hotel within walking distance of the start of the race and I will be there with you throughout the weekend to ensure that you have an enjoyable stay and a memorable race event."

UCF is a local charity committed to tackling cancer by supporting cancer research, providing services for cancer patients and their families and by educating people on how they can reduce their risk of the disease. UCF's work is only possible due to the generosity of local people who raise almost all the £4m needed annually to provide UCF's care and support services, free of charge, to cancer patients, carers and their family in Northern Ireland.

To register for the Great North Run, UCF require a £56 deposit and participants must raise a minimum of £600 sponsorship. As a member of the UCF Team, runners will be provided with two nights bed and breakfast accommodation, guaranteed race entry and travel insurance.
If you would like to register for the Great North Run please contact Sarah Atcheson at UCF on 028 9068 0765 or e-mail sarahatcheson@ulstercancer.org or click on www.ulstercancer.org/events
