Marie Marin, Employers For Childcare presented Ulster Bank Business Achiever Award

Employers For Childcare Vouchers Ltd business achievements in the face of challenging economic conditions, won them the Ulster title of Ulster Bank Social Entrepreneurship Business Achiever 2009 at a ceremony held in the Hilton on Thursday 26th November.

Earlier in the week, they were honoured by winning Campaign of the Year 2009 at the annual Slugger O'Toole Awards voted by MLA's. This was in recognition of the impact they made through their ChildcareSOS campaign, launched in response to Gordon Brown's proposal to abolish tax relief on childcare vouchers.

Earlier in the month, Employers For Childcare Vouchers Ltd were also named runner up in the Northern Ireland Social Enterprise Awards held in Stormont on Social Enterprise Day, Thursday 19th November.

In September Employers For Childcare Vouchers Ltd were the first and only organisation in Northern Ireland to pass strict criteria to achieve the prestigious ethical business award 'Social Enterprise Mark'. The Mark is an instantly recognisable label to identify social enterprises; helping to create benefits and people and planet.

Marie Marin CEO of Employers For Childcare says "We are a social enterprise who trades for a social purpose, re-investing our profit back into the community to sustain and further our aim for positive change. These awards are a reflection of our ethos "to help working parents with dependent children to get into work and stay in work". We are delighted with the recognition the awards offer us".

2009 has been a launch pad for Employers For Childcare with 2010 promising to propel them further. Through the recognition of their exemplary track record, Employers For Childcare are hopeful others will be encouraged to adopt a social enterprise business model and through continued business success driving continued community re-investment, greater social impact can be made towards positive change.
