The Arts Show: Introduces

Young up and coming presenters and fresh TV creative talent in Northern Ireland will have an exciting new stage to perform on when The Arts Show: Introduces makes its debut later this year.

The Arts Show: Introduces will be a special edition of BBC Northern Ireland’s monthly arts and culture series, The Arts Show, and will be available on the BBC iPlayer and on the BBC website in November.

The programme is offering an exciting opportunity for 17-25 year olds with a passion for Northern Ireland’s arts and culture scene. The Arts Show: Introduces is giving young creatives the chance to get their content featured on this special edition and is also searching for new presenters with an interest in the arts to front the programme.

Short films:

The Arts Show: Introduces wants to showcase fresh, original, innovative short films, that have a link to Northern Ireland, from up-and-coming creative 17-25 year olds. These could be short dramas, stories told through animation or music videos. Or they could be documentary features focusing on aspects of Northern Ireland’s distinctive culture and lively arts scene. Contributions up to 10 minutes long will be considered and the most suitable films will feature in the programme and on The Arts Show website.

The closing date for the submission of films is Wednesday, October 1 2014. Further information about the requirements and details of how to participate can be found online along with the full terms and conditions at www.bbc.co.uk/artsshow

New presenters:

The Arts Show: Introduces is also having a talent search - looking for new young presenters with flair, confidence and a genuine interest in the arts to front this one–off special edition of the programme. If you think you’ve got what it takes to be a presenter and you’re aged between 17 and 25, this could be the opportunity for you.

You should submit a two-minute showreel before the closing date of Thursday, July 24 2014. Further information about the requirements and criteria and the full terms and conditions, can again be found online at www.bbc.co.uk/artsshow including dates when those shortlisted must be available for screen test at the BBC Northern Ireland studios in Belfast.

Marie-Louise Muir, presenter of The Arts Show and Arts Extra said:

“This is a fantastic opportunity for young people interested in the arts to get creative and demonstrate their filmmaking and story-telling skills. We know that there is some very impressive content being created by talented young people here so we expect the standard to be high. With Northern Ireland now being one of the busiest film locations in Europe it’s great that The Arts Show can provide these opportunities for young people interested in creative media production.”

The Arts Show: Introduces will be available on BBC iPlayer in November and additional films will be published online.
