Planning reform proposals

Planning Service has recently released a consultation paper detailing its proposals to reform the planning system in Northern Ireland. There is general acceptance of the need for planning reform and many of the proposals are welcomed, however there are several issues that cause concern.

A briefing paper (available below to download) produced by The National Trust, Rural Community Network, RSPB, Community Places, Northern Ireland Environment Link, Friends of the Earth Northern Ireland and Ulster Architectural Heritage Society outlines these and suggests some key questions for those planning to attend consultation events.

The events, which are open for everyone to attend, are scheduled for:

  • Thursday 3 Sept 7.30pm CAFRE, Levaghy, Enniskillen
  • Friday 4 Sept 10.30am Burnavon Arts & Cultural Centre, Cookstown
  • Tuesday 8 Sept 10.30am Lagan Valley Leisureplex, Lisburn
  • Wednesday 9 Sept 7.30pm Signal Business Centre, Bangor
  • Friday 11 Sept 10.30am Grosvenor House, Belfast
  • Monday 14 Sept 7.30pm Riverside Theatre, UU, Coleraine
