House of the Year judge calls on Northern Ireland homeowners to release their property’s potential with Architect in the House

Architect and BBC “House of the Year” judge Des Ewing is calling on Northern Irelandhomeowners to release their property’s potential by getting some expert advice from an architect through Architect in the House.

The popular UK-wide scheme provides the public with hour-long consultations with Royal Society of Ulster Architects (RSUA) Chartered architects who donate their time for free, in exchange for a £40 suggested donation to local charity Housing Rights Service. Homeowners can register until 11 July at http://bit.ly/JthQS0 and will be matched with a local architect.

Whether it’s building an extension, knocking through a wall or a complete renovation, the scheme is a fantastic opportunity for homeowners to discuss their ideas with an RSUA chartered architect while raising money for Housing Rights Service work.

Speaking about the initiative Des said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for local homeowners to add value and realise their homes full potential.  For a small donation to Housing Rights Service you get an hour with a qualified Architect.

Participants will be matched with RSUA Chartered architects from May and consultations can take place any time up to the end of November.

Janet Hunter, Housing Rights Service Director said: We are delighted to be participating in this year’s Architect in the House with the Royal Society of Ulster Architects. This unique campaign will help local people improve their homes and enable Housing Rights Service to provide vital housing advice.”
