REACT (Reconciliation, Education And Community Training)

REACT would like to recruit sessional youth mentors to work as part of the Youth Project Mentoring Service.

REACT Youth Project offers a range of group activities and programmes for young people aged 10 to 20 years in theArmagh City and District area including a mentoring and counselling service. We are currently recruiting sessional youth mentors to work as part of our Youth Project Mentoring Service.

Job Title: Sessional Youth Mentor

Renumeration:   £20 per session (up to 2 hours including admin) plus 45 pence per mile for work related travel expenses. 

Successful candidates will be employed on a sessional basis  and will be responsible to HMRC for the payment of tax and  national insurance contributions.

Location: Based in Armagh and working in the surrounding district

 

Main Duties
Work with Young People in the community on a one-to-one basis

Support and empower young people to address a range of issues including disruptive and challenging behaviour and emotional distress

Work directly with young people to develop healthy peer and family relationships and healthy life skills and coping strategies

Respond to the specific needs of young people as they arise

Maintain accurate paper and electronic records of work and provide written reports as necessary

Complete needs and risk assessments, support plans and exit plans

Ensure the implementation and monitoring of Safe Guarding, Health and Safety, risk assessment, incident and accidents reporting systems.

Attend supervision meetings and training

 

Person Specificication

Applicants must:

Have an OCN level 2 qualification in youth work or equivalent with a minimum of two years experience working with young people in a variety of youth work settings.          

Demonstrate knowledge of issues affecting young people, particularly those marginalised and isolated.

Have experience of one to one youth work with marginalised young people.

Have experience of completing needs and risk assessments and support plans.

Have excellent inter-personal, communication and written skills.

Have excellent organisational skills and ability to manage a case load.

Demonstrate ability to work on own initiative.

Demonstrate ability to work as part of a team.

Have availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Be able to meet the mobility requirements of the post and have access to transport.

Ability to work effectively with other professional workers.
