WELLBEING SUPPORT SERVICE

WELLBEING SUPPORT WORKER – part time (fixed term until 31st July 2018 with possibility of extension funded by Children in Need)

Overall Objective of the role:

MACS Wellbeing Support service provides a range of interventions to assist young people aged 11-25 in maintaining positive mental health and wellbeing.

The post holders will be:

  • Responsible for developing support packages within a team context which will enable children and young people to gain skills and confidence to better manage their mental health
  • Providing support to children and young people who have experience of suicide ideation/self harm
  • Developing new, innovative and alternative approaches to work with children and young people including the delivery of our bespoke schools programme
  • Supporting volunteers through their match with a young person to set and achieve goals, providing one to one monthly supervision and bimonthly group support nights

 

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

 

  • At least two years experience of supporting children and young people who have experienced mental ill health aged 11-25

 

OR

 

  • Degree in Social Work or Youth and Community Work
  • At least one years experience supporting children and young people who have experienced mental ill health aged 11-25

 

AND

 

  • Experience of carrying out keeping safe plans with children and young people aged 11-25
  • Experience of “Getting to know you” meetings and support planning with children and young people aged 11-25
  • At least one years experience of working with and supporting volunteers
  • A full current driving license and access to a car is required so as to be able to meet the requirements of the post in full
  • Able and willing to work to a shift work pattern

 

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

 

  • Direct experience of working in a group context with young people who have experience of mental ill health

 Salary:             £21,388 per annum with pension at 4% of salary (pro-rata)

 

Hours of Work: 21 Hours per week

 Regular evening, weekend work and on call provision will be required.
