Project Support Worker to deliver support and interpretation to BME community safety and integration project.
Main responsibilities
To assist client support service of the project and maintain accurate records as appropriate.
To interpret and, where appropriate, for individual clients receiving support from the project and to abide by the interpreting Code of Practice.
To signpost clients to relevant advice and support services and to facilitate access to community and voluntary sector organisations services where appropriate.
To assist in capacity building and empowering clients to articulate their own expectations and needs.
To book and arrange relevant interpreters for the project’s work as appropriate.
To highlight and challenge any discriminatory behaviour or attitudes encountered in the course of the project’s delivery
To undertake outreach to initiate under-represented minority ethnic groups in Lisburn area.
To promote the aims and objectives of the project.
To help identify additional specific and unmet needs of the minority ethnic population in Lisburn.
To respect confidentiality as laid down in CWSAN’s Confidentiality Policy and to adhere to all organisational policies
To provide relevant training resources on topics where appropriate to minority ethnic population.
To contribute to the development of culturally competent practice in statutory and voluntary/community organisations by participating in relevant working groups and initiatives as appropriate.
