Job Title:                    Skainos Centre and Business Development Manager

Reporting to:             Interim Chief Operations Officer

Salary:                        Competitive

Location:                    Skainos Centre, 239 Newtownards Road, Belfast

Hours of Work           37.5 hours per week.   Reasonable hours outside of this may be

                                    Required to fulfil the duties of this position

Leave:                         20 days plus 12 statutory days

Pension:                     National Employment Savings Trust (NEST) Pension Scheme

Health Care:              An employee health care plan is available after successful

                                    probation

Probation:                  This post is subject to a 6 month probationary period. 

                                    The company reserves the right to extend this probationary

Job Purpose

 The Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management, development and business performance of the Skainos Centre. They will build a wide range of partnerships and collaborations with stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds and from different parts of the city and beyond for the ultimate benefit of the community of Inner East.

 

 

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities

 

  • To provide leadership for the Skainos Centre and to be responsible for the business development and the successful delivery of the Centre’s objectives.
  • To develop and implement a business development strategy to maximise income and create efficiencies
  • To have a particular focus on the following key issues:

Long-term sustainability

Promotion of the Centre

Relationships with all stakeholders including funders, partners, users, tenants and residents

 

 

  1. Sustainability

 

  • Secure adequate resources to ensure the sustainability of the Skainos Centre and to plan, direct and coordinate fundraising for the centre including the development of grant proposals in liaison with EBM
  • To allocate and manage resources and budgets for the Skainos Centre
  • To ensure that all activities conducted within the Centre comply with applicable legislation and regulations

 

 2.    Promotion and Communication

 

  • Promote the use of the Skainos Centre as a community and conference facility and achieve agreed targets on usage
  • Develop and coordinate a programme of ‘shared space' activity for the Centre
  • Identify new opportunities for the use of the Skainos centre and implement these
  • Represent the Centre at exhibitions and events as required
  • Liaise with the Facilities Manager on conference requirements and room bookings
  • Promote the use of the Centre through effective use of media, including website and social media within agreed guidelines
  • Ensure the website and social media mediums are kept up to date on a daily/weekly basis
  • Monitor and record activity in Skainos Centre with particular focus on the shared space dimension
  •  Exercise and promote good customer relations

 

3    Relationships

 

  • Establish, develop and maintain positive and effective strategic relationships with stakeholders and users of the building, including tenants, residents, funders and partners
  • Ensure funder and stakeholder obligations are met in full including the production and submission of returns as required
  • Develop strategic partnerships with individuals, agencies and initiatives to ensure the widest use of the Centre and thereby support the development of the Inner East Belfast community
  • Facilitate relationships between tenants in the building and with the local community to stimulate collaboration and help embed the Skainos Centre within the community

4.    Other

 

  • Create an environment within the Skainos Centre which excites, inspires and challenges stakeholders in the areas of interest including regeneration, shared space, community relations, community development and education
  • As part of the senior management team to provide effective and professional leadership, supporting and promoting the activities of the organisation
  • To adhere to all health and safety regulations and EBM’s policies and procedures
  • To undertake any other duties conducive to the effective operation of the post and deemed to be within the post-holder’s competencies and areas of responsibility

Experience

3 years’ experience of working in a similar role

 

3 years’ senior business development experience with a proven track record of converting opportunities into income generation.

 

Demonstrable experience of property management and lease management

 

Demonstrable experience of developing marketing strategies

 

Demonstrable experience of delivering KPIs and managing SLAs under contract

 

Demonstrable experience in developing, controlling and reviewing budgets

 

Proven business acumen and previous experience of leading business development initiatives

 

Significant experience of working to tight deadlines and prioritising own workload with minimal supervision.

 

Significant experience of initiating, developing and maintaining contact networks including the media
