Balmoral HC is currently recruiting for a REGISTERED NURSE on a FULLTIME PERMANENT contract in DUNGANNON. The successful candidate will be a Registered General Nurse with 6 months experience in a relevant Care setting. A great opportunity!!

Job profile: 
The Nurse/Person in charge assists the Care Manager/Deputy with professional duties and is responsible for care/nursing duties within the Home, whilst ensuring that Care Manager is kept up to date at all times. In the absence of the Care Manager/ Deputy the Nurse/Person in charge is the leader and a working member of the care team and as such has overall responsibility for the maintenance of high standard of care and ensure that adequate cover is provided.

Main duties:

Promote the Company Mission Statement at all times.
To work to the Codes of Practice set down by the Nursing & Midwifery Council.

To consider every Service User as an individual and treat them with the dignity and respect which their age and experience in life deserves. To meet the Service Users’ own physical, emotional and spiritual needs in a non judgemental way and to be respectable of their privacy and personal space.

To ensure that all treatments are carried out as prescribed and in line with best practice, as detailed in Royal Marsden Manual of Clinical Nursing Procedures. To comply with all Policies as set out in the Policies and Procedures Manual.

To admit new Service Users and introduce them to other staff and Service Users. To carry out pre-admission assessments if requested.

To complete and review Service Users’ care plans within agreed deadlines.

Adequately deploy staff on each shift.

To ensure that any equipment found to be faulty is removed from service.

To ensure that Service Users’ property is safeguarded and that records are updated as necessary in accordance with the Home’s procedure.

In the absence of Care Manager/Deputy ensure that CQC and Area Manager are informed of any accidents, deaths, hospital admissions, incidents and infectious diseases by way of Regulation 37 reporting.

To ensure the induction of new staff is carried out in accordance with the Home’s Recruitment Policy.

If required, ensure that staff supervisions and appraisals are completed in line with Care Quality Commission Standards and in line with the Company Policy.

To ensure a qualified nurse is on the premises at all times, remaining on duty if necessary until cover can be arranged.

Communication

To ensure accurate and timely handovers.

To maintain good communication with Service Users and relatives and, where possible, to involve them in individual Service User’s care plan.

To ensure that Care Manager/Matron is aware of any incidents or accidents to Service Users, staff or visitors and to complete the appropriate documentation.

Maintain confidentiality at all times in relation to the Data Protection Act 1998.

Develop a good rapport with Service Users, relatives and be polite and courteous to all visitors. When answering the telephone, ensure professionalism at all times and that any messages taken are dealt with effectively.

Atend staff meetings as required.

Marketing the business by showing prospective customers around the Home and ensuring that a record is retained of their details.

General

To be aware of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and your own responsibilities under this Act.

To participate in training programs which may be required either by law or Company Policy and to adhere to PREPP requirements.

To report for duty at the correct time in accordance with off duty rota. Endeavour to cover colleague’ duties in times of sickness and holidays.

To report for duty in a clean, tidy uniform and following the dress code as set out in the Employee Handbook.

To abide by the Home’s Employee Handbook and Company Policies and Procedures.

To be flexible and adaptable in participating in other jobs which are necessary for the smooth running of the home and the safety of the Service Users.

To have an understanding of requirements detailed in Health and Social Care Act 2008 in line with standards set by the Care Quality Commission.

Support the Care Manager with the Home’s marketing plan.

Promote, ensure and maintain the good reputation of the Care Home and the Company.

Ensure that the security of the Care Home is maintained at all times.
