Cara-Friend require two Regional Development Youth Officers to join our thriving Cara-Friend LGBT Youth team across N. Ireland with an early September start.
Aim
To influence the policy environment and ensure that all young people, identifying as LGB&T have access to safe and caring environments where they are respected and receive the support they need from staff and volunteers who are adequately equipped to respond.
Objectives
- To influence policy to ensure recognition of the needs of LGB&T young people
- Develop the capacity of the workforce to respond to the needs of LGB&T young people
- To develop safe spaces for LGB&T young people to engage in personal and social development activities
Activities include:-
- Advocacy, campaigns and policy work
- Awareness raising/ networks and partnerships
- Development of strategic training and resources
- Workforce development through the delivery of training to staff and volunteers in the youth sector and professionals in the statutory sector
- Research into the experiences of young LGB&T people across N. Ireland
- Development and support of local LGB&T youth service provision across N. Ireland including the western region.
One of the posts will have a specific focus on the western area and homeworking arrangements may be available.
The other will be based from our offices in Belfast LGBT Centre.
