Cara-Friend require two Regional Development Youth Officers to join our thriving Cara-Friend LGBT Youth team across N. Ireland with an early September start.

Aim

To influence the policy environment and ensure that all young people, identifying as LGB&T  have access to safe and caring environments where they are respected and receive the support they need from staff  and volunteers who are adequately equipped to respond.

Objectives

  • To influence policy to ensure recognition of the needs of LGB&T young people
  • Develop the capacity of the workforce to respond to the needs of LGB&T young people
  • To develop safe spaces for LGB&T young people to engage in personal and social development activities

Activities include:-

  • Advocacy, campaigns  and policy work
  • Awareness raising/ networks and partnerships
  • Development of strategic training and resources
  • Workforce development through the delivery of training to staff and volunteers in the youth sector and professionals in the statutory sector
  • Research into the experiences of young LGB&T people across N. Ireland
  • Development and support of local LGB&T youth service provision across N. Ireland including the western region.

One of the posts will have a specific focus on the western area and homeworking arrangements may be available.

The other will be based from our offices in Belfast LGBT Centre.
