The Youth Matters Project Worker will be responsible for promoting the inclusion of children and young people with disabilities, autism and brain injury into a broad range of mainstream activities in their local community.

The Cedar Foundation is seeking to recruit the following staff member:

The Youth Matters Project Worker will be responsible for promoting the inclusion of children and young people with disabilities, autism and brain injury into a broad range of mainstream activities in their local community. 

The Youth Matters Project Worker may provide personal care to young people where necessary and this may include some manual handling tasks.

 

Hours:                  15 hours Per Week (Due to the nature of our work with young people, the service will be delivered late afternoons, evenings and weekends).

Contract:              3 years plus possible extension for further 2 years

Location:              Community Inclusion Services – (Northern Trust) Cookstown /Magherafelt

Salary:                  3 Point incremental scale starting on £18,070 pro rata

 

Essential Criteria: 

  • Basic qualification to NVQ Level 2/QCF Level 2 or equivalent in Health & Social Care, Youth & Community Work or related field.
  • Minimum of 1 years’ paid experience of working directly with children and young people in a supportive capacity
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
  • Partnership Working
  • Hold a full current driving license valid for use in the UK and Ireland and have access to a car on appointment.

This criterion will be waived in the case of a suitable applicant who has a disability which prohibits them from driving but who is able to organise suitable alternative arrangements in order to meet the requirements of the post in full.

 

Desirable Criteria: 

  • Experience of delivering personal development programmes
  • Experience & understanding of young disabled people
  • Experience of developing arts-based activities, outdoor education and sporting activities
  • Experience & understanding of the barriers in relation to disability
  • Good working knowledge of IT, specifically Microsoft Word & Outlook
  • Facilitation and group work skills
