CAUSE are looking for highly motivated and flexible individuals to join our Carer Advocacy team in Belfast.

PART TIME CARER ADVOCATE POSTS (3 x FIXED TERM MATERNITY LEAVE COVER)

CAUSE is a vibrant regional charity which provides practical and emotional support to empower families, partners and friends caring for a loved one with serious mental illness. CAUSE is unique in that we are a peer-led carers’ organisation.

1. CARER ADVOCATE for CAMHS - The post of Carer Advocate for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) is key to CAUSE’s advocacy service supporting families, parents, carers and friends. In this role, you will be working with parents / guardians of those children and young people admitted to Beechcroft, the regional child and adolescent inpatient facility for Northern Ireland. The successful candidate will have personal experience of caring for a child or adolescent who has experienced mental ill health OR caring for loved one who has experienced serious mental illness.

2. CARER ADVOCATE for PERSONALITY DISORDER - Applications are invited for the post of Carer Advocate for Personality Disorder with responsibility for the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust area. As Carer Advocate, the successful candidate will support carers and families of those who may have a diagnosis of personality disorder. S/he will work closely with staff in the Head Office in Belfast and with mental health professionals in the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. The successful candidate will have personal experience of providing support to someone with a diagnosis of personality disorder.

3. CARER ADVOCATES for SOUTH and EAST BELFAST - As a Carer Advocate, the successful candidate will provide help to carers from the South or East Belfast area including one-to-one advocacy, support group facilitation, Helpline support and engaging with carers on service and policy development. S/he will work closely with statutory health and social care agencies and other community and voluntary groups. The successful candidate will also have personal experience of caring for a loved one who has experienced serious mental illness.


All posts require highly motivated and flexible individuals, who can work on their own initiative and as part of a team.

All posts are fixed term maternity cover posts and are part-time. The post will be paid on a pro rata basis of a full time equivalent salary of £22,443 (per annum).
