EXTERN is a large charity which helps to improve the lives of children and adults facing challenging circumstances and makes communities safer across the island of Ireland.

We are seeking to recruit for the following position within the Moving on Moving Forward Team:

Mentoring Support Worker X 2 (SF866/07/16)

Project: 

Moving Forward Moving On (MFMO) is a mentoring support project working with young people aged 16-24 years who have an alternative education background and/or have a history of offending behaviour.  MFMO use the Transitional Mentoring Support Model of 1) Emotional Support; 2) Advice & Guidance; and c) Hand-holding to assist service users in addressing their barriers to progression.  As a Mentoring Support Worker you will work with service users to improve their quality of lives within their community by promoting wellbeing, independence, healthy life choices and training & employability options. Depending on the service one may have direct contact with the families and friends of the service users and one's work may change their lives too. As a mentoring support worker, one will need to be resilient enough and open minded to deal with some of the challenges that such complex needs can present.

CONTRACT:  1 post is fixed term for 1 year, 1 post is fixed term for 2 years

HOURS: 40 hours per week (primarily 9am - 5pm however flexiblity required for evening and weekend work)

SALARY: Grade 4, £16,936 per annum
