Rural North West Community Support (RNWCS) are currently recruiting for one position which will be a 35 hour per week post, 30 of these hours will involve working as MARA Project Manager, funded by PHA/DARD and 5 hours working as Project Officer for RNWCS

Rural North West Community Support are currently recruiting for one position which will be a 35 hour per week post for the following:

MARA Project Manager - 30 hours per week

Project Officer - 5 hours per week

Successful candidates will be based in Newtownstewart

Fixed term contract until the end of March 2015

£12.20 per hour gross

 (Renewal for a further year, subject to satisfactory performance and funding)

MARA Project Manager - Key purpose - to promote, manage, carry out visits and develop the MARA Project fo the benefit of vulnerable rural households using a community development approach

Project Officer - Key purpose - to support RNWCS Board and develop and oversee projects using a community development approach


Essential Qualifications

  • A relevant third level qualification supported by twelve months paid full-time employment in community development

      OR

  • Two years paid, full-time experience within the voluntary or community sector, which shows competence in the tasks outlined in the job description

 

Candidates must have access to a mode of transport that will enable them to carry out the duties of the post.

 

Essential experience, skills and aptitudes

 

  • Experience of project management within the community and voluntary sector and proven organisational ability
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, including ability to establish respectful and trusting relationship with householder, community groups and RNWCS Board of Directors
  • Empathy towards the vulnerable with sensitivity around meeting and collating confidential information
  • Excellent Computer skills with experience of using the internet and email systems in addition to Word, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Publisher and Excel
  • Sound knowledge and experience of managing finances and budget and funding applications
  • Ability to work unsupervised to achieve the aims, objectives and targets of a work plan and complete reports for funders and Board Members
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated and proactive approach, dependable and commitment to quality.
  • Understanding and commitment to principles and ethos of community development.
  • Willing to undergo an Access NI check.
  • Aptitude to work effectively under pressure and to handle changing priorities to keep within deadlines.
  • Demonstrate a knowledge or previous experience of working with people who are at risk of poverty and/or social exclusion

 

 

Desirable experience, skills and aptitudes

 

  • Experience of working with and reporting to a voluntary management committee and sympathetic to the most vulnerable sectors of our society.
  • Experience of working in providing guidance on maximising access and uptake of services, grants and benefits.
