Job Title: LGB&T Outreach Officer
Line Manager: TRP’s Mental Health Officer
Salary: Scale 4 – Point 20 £18,453 Pro-rata (based on 35hr working week)
Location: TRP’s Belfast Office and Newry Rainbow Community Centre and Southern Area
Hours: 14 Hours Per Week
Contract: 5 Months (subject to continuation of funding)
(Probation Period 3 Months)
Holidays: 25 Days p/a Plus Statutory Holidays
The Organisation
The Rainbow Project aims to promote the mental, emotional and physical health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their families in Northern Ireland.
Aim of Post
To promote the health and wellbeing of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender people and their families in the Southern Trust Area
Objectives of the Post
- To provide personal development programmes, workshops and courses that promote emotional health and wellbeing to LGB&T people and their families
- To provide individual and group work support
- To develop and deliver a volunteer led mentoring and befriending scheme for the Southern Area targeting LGB&T people and their families
- To work in partnership with key providers in the Southern Area, in particular Protect Life Resource Centres, and Community, Voluntary and Statutory partners
- To develop a Southern Area specific crisis response protocol for at risk clients
- To assertively reach out to LGB&T people in the Southern Area and where appropriate ensure access to support services
- To conduct any other duties as appropriate
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Three GCSEs at grade C or above to include English;
- One years’ experience as a paid member of staff in Emotional Health and Wellbeing work, or two years similar experience as a volunteer;
- Experience of the delivery of group work;
- Knowledge of the emotional health and wellbeing issues that impact upon LGB&T people and their families;
- Experience of working on own initiative with limited on-going supervision;

Desirable Experience and Competencies
- Experience of working in the LGBT Sector as a volunteer or paid member of staff;
- Delivery of individual and group work to support emotional health and wellbeing;
- Access to a car or form of transport if disability status prohibits usage of a car;
