The Office of the Northern Ireland Ombudsman is recruiting for an Investigating Officer. This is a 3 year secondment role through the Interchange programme.

Job Role
The work of an investigating officer is to conduct impartial, independent and thorough examination and investigation of complaints about maladministration and injustice. The Investigating Officer (IO) objectively analyses the matters raised by the member of the public as well as the responses/actions of the public body.  They identify the salient issues and reach a fair conclusion including appropriate redress. 

By the closing date, applicants must have a minimum of four year’s experience OR a degree or equivalent qualification and a minimum of two year’s experience in a work environment of conducting research, analysing complex information, writing reports and making carefully argued recommendations based on their work.

Applicants must also have and be able to demonstrate, by way of specific work-based examples, a high level of ability in the following areas:

a) Managing a personal case load and delivering against targets;
b) Working in a role with a strong customer focus and dealing with a diverse range of people.

In addition, candidates must have access to a form of transport that will allow them to fulfil the requirements of the post.
