Homecare Independent Living are now recruiting for a Housing Officer to join our team.

The purpose of this post is to provide essential administrative support to our housing management team. To have responsibility for the maintenance of systems with efficient and organised manner. Provide general support on a daily basis dealing with inquiries correspondence under the direction of the Housing manager.

MAIN DUTIES AND TASKS

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Answering and monitoring calls
  • Chasing relevant certificates for properties i.e. Gas Certs, Oil Burner Certs, EPC, PAT certs etc.
  • Assist in carrying out Health and Safety inspections
  • Assuring HMO inspections take place – liaising with HMO offices in Belfast and Coleraine
  • Management of asylum seeker properties
  • Management of repairs
  • Management of property files
  • Creating new service user files
  • Creating and providing tenant information leaflets
  • Updating our housing computer system
  • Management of gas and electric switch overs
  • Carrying out the daily availability
  • Liaising with the Housing Executive
  • Meeting with service providers for referrals
  • Advising tenant on arrears and payment plans
  • Arranging maintenance work
  • Arranging inspections for landlords/letting agents and Homecare
  • Viewing prospective properties
  • Dealing with internal queries about payments, ensuring clients pay on time and negotiating re-payment plans
  • Maintenance of the credit control system
  • Ensure that debts are paid in a timely manner
  • Meet cash & debtor targets set by the company
  • Chase overdue invoices by telephone, email & letter within agreed timescales
  • Maintain accurate records of all chasing activity
  • Regularly making contact with clients to ensure all relevant debts are managed as necessary
  • Identify changes in payment patterns and propose action to avert indebtedness

 Other Duties:

  • To undertake all relevant staff training as required.
  • As required support new staff to learn the job by assisting with induction programmes.
  • To carry out any other duties as specified by the Housing Manager or the General Manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  •  Educated to Degree level
  • Ability to communicate confidently at all levels (internal/external)
  • Strong self-organisation skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Full EU Driving licence
