Head of Development - Glasnevin Trust

CCI Executive Search

Glasnevin Trust seeks a Head of Development to manage and implement a €3m capital campaign to support the construction of the 1916 Citizens’ Chapel.

Background Information:

Glasnevin Cemetery was founded in 1832 by the great Irish parliamentarian and patriot Daniel O’Connell, as a place where people “of all religions and none” could be buried and remembered with dignity and respect. At the heart of the nation for almost 200 years, Glasnevin is now the final resting place for many loved and respected Irish personalities and patriots including Charles Stuart Parnell, Michael Collins, Maud Gonne, Countess Markievicz and Brendan Behan.

The Cemetery is managed by Glasnevin Trust, a not-for-profit organisation run by an executive management team and governed by the Dublin Cemeteries Committee. In addition to Glasnevin, The Trust operates four additional cemeteries across Dublin City at Dardistown, Goldenbridge, Newlands Cross and Palmerstown.

To mark the centenary of the 1916 Rising and to honour the lives lost on all sides, Glasnevin Trust are currently embarking on one of the most exciting special projects in the Cemetery’s history; the development of the 1916 Citizens’ Chapel.

The Role:

Glasnevin is now seeking to recruit a Head of Development to manage and implement the capital campaign to support the construction of the 1916 Citizens’ Chapel.

The successful candidate will implement an effective fundraising strategy to propel Glasnevin Trust forward and will have the confidence and skills to identify and cultivate donors, inspiring them to make significant gifts.

The Head of Development will have previously managed a capital campaign or will have experience in a senior donor engagement role with experience in working to and achieving ambitious fundraising targets.
