Family Support Worker - Touching Lives – Transforming Families

About the role

We are recruiting two Family Support Workers to work 30 hours each per week (part time) in Belfast or the Southern Trust Area, Northern Ireland. These positions are offered on a permenent basis.

Touching Lives – Transforming Families is an exciting and innovative project funded by the Big Lottery Fund Reaching Out: Supporting Families programme.  Sense leads and co-ordinates the project in partnership with the: Belfast; Northern; South Eastern; Southern and Western Health and Social Care Trusts.

The project will work across Northern Ireland to provide support to children with sensory impairments and additional support needs and their families. The Family Support Worker will be based at separate locations in the Belfast and Southern Trust areas. You will provide locally based support to children and families, developing skills within the local community to increase the range of accessible locally based services. Therefore, the successful applicant must have access to transport.

Family Support Workers support children and families in their homes and local communities through the provision of home visits, play and leisure activities and family events. You will also work with services to provide information, training and support designed to create a local support network for each family.

The ideal Family Support Worker will have proven experience of working with children or young people that are disabled, a relevant level three qualification and an understanding of issues that can affect children and their families.
