About the role
Touching Lives – Transforming Families is an exciting and innovative project funded by the Big Lottery Fund Reaching Out: Supporting Families programme. Sense leads and co-ordinates the project in partnership with the: Belfast; Northern; South Eastern; Southern and Western Health and Social Care Trusts.
The project will work across Northern Ireland to provide support to children with sensory impairments and additional support needs and their families. The Family Support Worker will be based at separate locations in the Southern and South Eastern Trust areas, specifically County Armagh and County Down. You will provide locally based support to children and families, developing skills within the local community to increase the range of accessible locally based services. Therefore, the successful applicant must have access to transport.
Family Support Workers support children and families in their homes and local communities through the provision of home visits, play and leisure activities and family events. You will also work with services to provide information, training and support designed to create a local support network for each family.
Sense is a national charity that supports people who are deafblind, those with sensory impairments and those with complex needs, to enjoy more independent lives.
Sense has a proven record of offering high quality, pioneering services.
Working as a Support Worker at Sense can be incredibly rewarding; we offer the opportunity to work in a large, diverse and successful charity where people can develop their skills, knowledge and careers in a supportive and flexible environment. In addition we have excellent training and development, the opportunity for you to join our Group Personal Pension scheme and a generous annual leave entitlement.
