Job Description

 

Family Focus Early Years Parent Support Co-ordinator

Job purpose:    To provide parent to parent support; facilitate parent networks and develop parent-friendly information.

Main Responsibilities

  • ·        To be the first contact with parents, to offer support and information
  • ·        To assist at the “Time to Play” groups
  • ·        Develop Parent-parent peer support programme
  • ·        Develop parent friendly literature for use in both hard and soft copy
  • ·        Provide reports regularly for the Project Steering Group
  • ·        Contribute to active monitoring and evaluation measures throughout the project
  • ·        Capture data as agreed and submit monthly reports to Project Manager
  • ·        Support closed social media group to enable parent-to-parent networking
  • ·        To maintain accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date records
  • ·        To attend events where appropriate
  • ·        To undertake any job-related training as required and

specified by the Project Co-Ordinator.

Person Specification

 

Essential Skills

 

  • A minimum qualification Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills or a minimum of 2 years’ experience in counselling or advice-giving;
  • An understanding of the impact of disability on family life
  • Experience of working in a supportive and empathetic role
  • Demonstrable ability to present to external and internal stakeholders
  • An ability to work on your own initiative
  • I.T. skills including Word, Outlook, Excel and Access

 

Desirable

 

  • Knowledge of a wide range of eye conditions and how these can impact child development
  • Experience of collaborative working and maintaining effective partnerships

 

 

 

The post holder will be expected to undertake travel throughout Northern Ireland and must be able to demonstrate how they would undertake the travel required for the role.

 

Flexibility in working hours will be required including activities outside of office hours
