Alzheimer's Society

Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. Dementia affects over 800,000 people in the UK alone and numbers continue to grow.

Do you believe that people with dementia and their carers should participate in planning and making decisions about the services they receive? We do.

Join our team as Engagement and Participation Officer and you will make a significant contribution to our operational and strategic development.

You will implement the Society’s User Involvement Plan at both a local, regional and national level. This will involve promoting an integrated and collaborative approach to involvement across all directorates – from developing efficient systems and influencing policy to delivering training and creating opportunities for people affected by dementia to influence health, social care and the wider environment. To this end, you will work closely with other Engagement and Participation Officers and colleagues to establish good involvement practice, evaluate our involvement activities and develop new initiatives. As an ambassador for the Society, you will also work to raise wider awareness of our engagement and participation.

Along with a degree-level education, you will need extensive experience of developing, delivering and evaluating user involvement and participation in the health and social care environment. A good understanding of dementia and the needs of those affected by it is essential, as is familiarity with relevant legislation and the role of health and social care services.  A first-class communicator and influencer, you will also have experience of delivering training and working collaboratively with partner organisations. Add to that the flexibility to travel and work independently, and you will quickly establish yourself as a key member of our team.

Location: Flexible (Within Northern Ireland)
