STRIDE is an ESF funded project designed to assist people with disabilities to gain vocational qualifications, employment skills and employment opportunities. We are currently recruiting for a Compliance Officer to assist with programme delivery.

Title:                           STRIDE Employability Tutor (Fixed Term Contract to March 2018)

Location:                  USEL (Ulster Supported Employment Ltd)

 Responsible to:      ESF Project Manager

 Main Responsibilities:

  1. To be responsible for the design and delivery of employability training to STRIDE project participants across Northern Ireland
  2. To be responsible for the on-going development of schemes of work, lesson plans and evaluative processes in order to fulfil the requirements of the project
  3. To maintain a high standard of training and assessment and ensure performance targets are achieved on schedule
  4. To work alongside the training co-ordinator to monitor training performance.
  5. To assist participants with job search and interview preparation activities
  6. To complete and maintain individual learning plans and progress reviews.
  7. To work with Employment Services Officers to actively recruit for the course to ensure training targets are achieved
  8. To liaise with Awarding Bodies and oversee the verification of qualifications
  9. To act as Internal Verifier where appropriate
  10. To apply all training processes in line with ESF and internal guidelines
  11. To keep up to date and accurate records of all training delivered
  12. To produce data and reports for use by the project management
  13. To perform any other duties as required by the line manager and that are commensurate with the grade of the post

 Person Specification

Essential:

 

  1. A recognised teaching qualification (see appendix 1)
  2. A level 2 qualification or above in English and Maths (Literacy and Numeracy)
  3. Minimum of 1 year of experience, gained within the last 3 years of delivering employability training to unemployed or economically inactive learners.
  4. An understanding of Awarding Body administration processes  
  5. Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  6. Computer Literate, in particular Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word, Outlook etc.)
  7. Driving Licence and access to a car (if the effects of a disability preclude an individual from holding a driving licence then they should indicate how they could meet the mobility requirements of the post).

 Desirable:

  1. Experience of delivering other vocational subjects
  2. A level 3 qualification or above in an employability related subject
  3. Knowledge of the needs of people with a disability or people with health conditions within an employment setting.

 USEL is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.  Employment to this post is therefore subject to an Access NI Enhanced Check. 

 Terms & Conditions:

Salary: £21,254 – 24,639 (currently under review)

Holidays: 27 days Annual Leave and 10 days Statutory Leave

Hours of Work: Monday to Thursday 8.15 a.m. – 4.30 p.m. and

Friday 8.15 –12.15 p.m.

Pension: Auto Enrolment Pension Scheme

Travel Expenses: Business travel is reimbursed at a rate of 50p per mile

Recognised Teaching Qualifications

• Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), obtained in the UK;

• Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), obtained in the Republic of Ireland (provided the individual also holds a ‘conditional registration’ or ‘full registration’ with the Teaching Council in Ireland); 

• Bachelor of Education Degree (B.Ed), obtained in the UK or the Republic of Ireland; 

• University of Ulster BA (Honours) in Education; 

• University of Ulster Certificate in Teaching (CIT);

• BA (Honours) in Education obtained in England (provided the individual also holds a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Certificate); 

• BA (Honours) in Education obtained in Scotland or Wales (provided the individual also holds full or provisional registration with their respective Teaching Councils); 

•  Northern Ireland Post Graduate Certificate in Further and Higher Education (PGCFHE); 

•  Northern Ireland Post Graduate Diploma in Further and Higher Education (PGDFHE); and 

•  Northern Ireland Post Graduate Certificate in Education (Further Education) (PGCE (FE)).
