The main purpose of the job is to further develop and co-ordinate an existing post primary educational support service (homework club) based at Belfast South Community Resources (BSCR).
Job Title: Education Support Co-ordinator
Accountable To: Manager of BSCR
Location: Belfast South Community Resources, 127-145 Sandy Row BT125ET
Salary: £16,560 per annum (Calculated pro-rata to reflect the hours of the post)
Hours of Work: 18 hours per week, the contract is for 46 weeks
(will require flexibility to meet the needs of the service).
Leave: Holiday entitlement will be calculated on a pro-rata basis
This is a 2 year post beginning 4th Sept 2017. Post is subject to a 6 month probationary period.
Main Duties:
1. To further develop and maintain a programme of educational support and mentoring (homework club) for local school pupils
2. To recruit, provide training, support and manage a team of 20-25 volunteer mentors to support young people in their learning.
3. To build relationships with local schools in order to coordinate educational support for young people involved in the project.
4. To liaise with the existing Education & Youth Co-ordinator to develop the educational support and personal development programmes for participants
6. To engage with parents of children involved with the project to ensure their involvement and support.
7. Liaise with other departments at BSCR to ensure that the programme is adequately resourced.
8. To support the on-going work of BSCR
9. To engage in monitoring and evaluation as necessary, including the completion of monthly reports.
10. To engage in monthly supervision meetings with the Manager of BSCR
11. Ensure BSCR’s procedures are adhered to regarding:
a. Health & Safety Regulations and Procedures
b. Child Protection
