Background to the Project

The EDGES project provides an evidence informed, specialist ‘earlier intervention’ service for young people primarily between the ages of 13–17, who are on the ‘edge of care, custody and/or education’.

These young people are coming to the regular attention of the police for non-offence related behaviour, and their attendance or behaviour in education indicates a need for intervention. They are also likely to be at risk of homelessness in later adolescence and to feature in the Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEETS) population post compulsory school education.

Background to the Role

In consultation with the Project Management and colleagues, the post holder will be required to successfully deliver a range of support interventions and tutoring to young people engaging with the EDGES service in Enniskillen.

The Educational Support Worker will work in partnership with local schools and other specialist services, helping young people engaged with the EDGES service achieve the best possible outcomes in relation to their education.

The role will be responsible for encouraging motivation in relation to young people and education, exploring the advantages and reducing barriers to learning. They will ensure good running of the service and to contribute to its outcomes and development.

This vacancy is offered on a fixed term basis until 21 December 2017.
