This funded Studentship will be part of a 4-year project operating within the University.  This 4 year project, entitled YouthPact, is a project funded under Peace IV’s Children and Young people strand and administered through Special European Union Programme Body (SEUPB).  YouthPact is a partnership of Co-operation Ireland (lead partner), Ulster University, National Youth Council of Ireland and POBAL.  YouthPact is funded as a Quality and Impact Body to promote and support the delivery agents who are contracted to deliver peace-building projects with children and young people across the counties of Northern Ireland and the border regions. The work of the funded PhD Studentship will make a substantive contribution to the key themes to be addressed within the work of YouthPact and the work of peace-building by delivery agents.

The Research topic proposed must be related to peace-building and young people. We are particularly interested in proposals within the following areas:  the role of youth work in societies emerging from conflict; the role of young women in peace-building in Northern Ireland; youth work and community relations; the irrelevance of ‘the troubles’ for young people in Northern Ireland.

We particularly encourage innovative and original applications which critically engage with the themes above or others connected to themes of peace-building and youth work, (although interdisciplinary approaches are also welcome).
