Day Centre Volunteer (Skainos Centre, East Belfast)

Age NI

Age NI provides care on a daily basis to hundreds of older people in Northern Ireland. Age NI's day centres in the Skainos Centre (East Belfast) is seeking a committed Volunteer to join them in caring for older people.

At Age NI, we put older people at the heart of everything we do.  Age NI Day Centres can be a lifeline to older people. Some people come for the social aspect and activities. Some come for a break from caring responsibilities at home. Some are dealing with relationship breakdowns or bereavement. They are invaluable, fun places where older people leave their troubles at the door and enjoy each other’s company over a hot meal.

What skills or qualities do I need to have?

  • Good Communication Skills
  • An empathy with older people
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Reliability and trustworthiness
  • An interest in participating in activities with older people.

What is in it for me?

  • Social interaction and a chance to develop friendships.
  • Gain experience in a career path
  • Reimbursement of out of pocket expenses
