Community Support Worker, Newtownabbey Floating Support

Based at Rashee Road, Ballyclare 18.5 hours per week (with flexibility to cover unsocial hours as required) Salary: £15,489.96 - £17,386.36 pa (pro-rata) Ref: 10/REC/355

Community services offer a variety of ways of supporting people, from one-to-one support and group work, to social spaces and support for developing user-led services, all with in the recovery ethos.

Working to support individuals, families and carers affected by mental illness to achieve a better quality of life.

Everyone using community support services develops an individual recovery/support plan based on personal goals and outcomes which aims to promote personal responsibility and self-confidence through a solution-focused and recovery orientated approach.

The post-holder will:

  • be familiar with individual Support Plans and proactively support people who use our services in achieving their goals
  • contribute to the protection of individuals from the risk of abuse and harm to self and others who use services or carers

Essential Criteria

  • Must be able to demonstrate a minimum of 6 months experience of providing support to people with a severe mental illness either in a paid or voluntary position.

OR

  • Demonstrate a minimum of 1 years experience of providing support in another care setting.

OR

  • experience of having being affected by mental illness

Knowledge of the main mental health diagnoses

Knowledge of working with multidisciplinary teams

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a check via the Access(NI) Service and the Independent Safeguarding Authority before commencement of employment. 

Willing and able to work weekends and public holidays.
