Developing & implementing local programmes or activities that will support crime prevention and community safety initiatives across the area, particularly for individuals and groups vulnerable and at risk

The main functions of this position are:

  • Contributing to the area and organisational response to Neighbourhood Renewal Social Renewal Crime Strategy
  • Developing & implementing local programmes or activities that will support crime prevention and community safety initiatives across the area, particularly for individuals and groups vulnerable and at risk
  • Supporting area work in relation to ex-combatants, other excluded groups and their families that contributes to crime prevention and increased community safety for individuals, families and groups
  • Promoting and facilitating crime prevention and community safety initiatives, programmes and activities as outlined above and within the BSCR Neighbourhood Renewal contract to increase participation and strengthen community confidence to enhance their safety.
  • Providing information to victims of crime to assist their help-seeking process
  • Securing funding for programmes & activities for the target groups benefiting from the Community Confidence Co-ordinator post through grants or fundraising activities including for youth inclusion/ diversionary projects
  • Implementation of the neighbourhood ‘Celebration & Events’ programme, and a range of other events to increase volunteering opportunities in the area.
  • Participating in and attending crime prevention and community safety initiatives organised by others
  • Participating as the organisational representative to the SW Area Partnership and other external partner organisations relevant to the post and in particular to the prevention and response to crime
  • Contributing to overall monitoring & evaluation of the work carried out through the BRO contract, particularly the Community Confidence Co-ordinator post.
  • Providing project reports for Management Board & key stakeholder organisations including BRO and funding organisations
  • Promoting the continuing development of the BSCR.
  • Any other such duties as considered appropriate to the post by the Management Committee
