DETI (The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment) is seeking to fill a secondment opportunity through the Interchange Programme. The secondment role of Communications and Outreach Coordinator is available for 12 months.

Job role

DETI is developing a business-led, multidisciplinary and cross sectoral foresight and horizon scanning programme under the auspices of the Northern Ireland Economic Strategy. Central to the approach of identifying key sectors and emerging market opportunities in all areas of the economy, is the need for strong and sustained communications with stakeholders and partners across business, academia and government.

Essential criteria
Candidates must have:

  • Recent experience of developing plans to optimise the impact of external and internal communications.
  • Recent experience of working with the media.
  • Excellent presentational skills, report writing, design capabilities, administrative and communication skills.
  • Experience of understanding and managing complex relationships and managing expectations.
  • Experience of having engaged at Senior Executive level.
  • Experience of coping with the requirements of a number of different stakeholders to meet challenging deadlines.
  • Experience of writing for different media including knowledge of requirements for publication on the internet/ intranet and social media channels including content management systems and social media dashboards.
  • Experience of on and offline media monitoring and reporting.
  • Experience of responding to challenging situations, working in a “real-time”, environment to manage communications with all stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel both regionally and nationally.
