Salary: NJC Principle Officer 3 (PO3) point 39 currently £32,800 (pro rata)

Mission Statement
To engage people at all levels in open and honest dialogue that facilitates better understanding
Main Duties:
- To co-ordinate the project on behalf of the Executive Committee ensuring the smooth running and effective implementation of programme activities and ongoing and new projects, management of staff and sessional facilitators and organisational meetings and sub meetings.
- To manage staff effectively including ensuring appropriate workplans are in place and reviewing performance through supervision and appraisals.
- To oversee and support Community Dialogue Peace III staff in the implementation of the Peace III Project, 2 Steps into Dialogue.
- To recommence the strategic planning and development process of the organisation including associated events.
- To review and update the membership of the organisation and the communication with same and reinstate the meetings of the core dialogue/informal development group.
- To promote the aims and objectives of the organisation by contributing to the text of promotional literature and website development and attending such events/seminars as appropriate in the development of public relations and networking opportunities.
- To research opportunities for achieving the resources required to fund the ongoing post of Co-ordinator for Community Dialogue.
- To ensure appropriate management and financial reports are completed and provided to funding agencies and the Executive Committee.
Other
To undertake other such reasonable duties as the Executive may from time to time require.
Conditions of Service:
The conditions of service for Community Dialogue are set out in the Contract of Employment and in the Organisation’s Staff Handbook, which is available from the Executive Committee upon appointment.
The Main Conditions of Service Are:
Period of employment
Initially until 31 March 2011 with view to extension until the end of Peace III funding.
Holidays
25 working days pro rata per complete leave year of service plus statutory holidays. The annual leave year is 1 April – 31 March
Hours of Employment
15 hours per week, exclusive of meal breaks
Smoking Policy
The Project operates a no-smoking policy within its premises
Flexible Working Hours
The post-holder will occasionally be expected to work outside of standard office hours, and a system of time in lieu will operate
Personnel Specification
Essential Requirements
- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline plus a minimum of three year’s experience of community work OR a minimum of 5 year’s experience in the field of community relations/community development
- Experience of staff and financial management.
- Experience of strategy planning and development.
- Proven record of fundraising
- Experience and understanding of policy affecting community relations., plus commitment to the principles of ‘Equity, Diversity and Interdependence’
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organisational and interpersonal skills
- An ability to work under own initiative, under pressure, re-prioritising as required.
- A familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including word-processing, spreadsheets and e-mail.
