The Hub is a charity that offers a free, professional counselling service in Ballynahinch as well as a drop-in advice centre for mental health issues.
The Hub was established because of the recognised needs of local people for help and support towards greater emotional and mental health. Counselling services often have long waiting lists and the aim of our charity is to get access to professional counselling within a relatively short space of time. We have approximately 8 to 10 counsellors, giving their time and expertise on a regular basis. These counsellors are dealing with issues such as depression, bereavement, self-harm and suicidal thoughts. We have just received funding to engage a youth counsellor which helps with one of our original aims – helping to prevent suicide and self-harm in young people.
