Centre Based Youth Worker II

We are seeking a youth worker who has experience of working in a full time capacity in a Full Time Youth Centre and is capable of undertaking the listed duties and responsibilities of the post.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

ESSENTIAL

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants must at the closing date for applications:

1)    Be qualified in accordance with JNC Report for Youth Workers, Paragraph 5;

AND

2)    Be able to demonstrate 2 years’ post qualifying experience of youth work delivery in a Full Time Youth Centre on a full time basis.

AND

3)    Have a minimum of 1 years’ experience of line management of part time youth workers and volunteers

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the Youth Service Curriculum
  • Knowledge of issues affecting young people particularly in relation to personal and social development
  • Working knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures

Skills

  • Project management including management of a budget, planning work programme, keeping appropriate records and meeting specific deadlines
  • Have good interpersonal skills
  • Be confident in the delivery of programmes in formal and informal settings
  • Centre management including ability to manage youth provisions across two sites in absence of Senior Youth Worker and otherwise as required by the Management Committee.

  • Be motivated, enthusiastic and confident
  • Ability to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrate an ability to contribute to effective team work
  • Demonstrate an ability to motivate and lead people

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate will be required:

a)     To have access to a suitable vehicle (appropriately maintained and insured for Youth Centre business) that will enable them to carry out the mobility requirements of the post in an effective manner and thus meet this essential criterion;

OR

b)    Be able to provide sufficient information on the application form that will satisfy the employer that he/she has access to an appropriate alternative form of transport that will enable them to carry out the mobility requirements of the post in an efficient and effective manner and thus meet this essential criterion
