JOB TITLE: Area Manager

REPORTS TO: Regional Manager

 

JOB PURPOSE:To develop the designated area.  Plan, implement deliver and manage a quality service to our Clients in the community.  To ensure the performance of care staff is maintained in accordance with standards as set out by the appropriate regulatory bodies. Maintain and update all records accordingly.   

MAIN DUTIES AND TASKS 

Clients

To meet the needs of the Clients by:

  • Completing a care plan and risk assessment for all new Clients within specified timeframes (ideally before package commences -maximum 2days after). Update Staff plan accordingly and provide a copy of the care plan for the Client file held in the office.
  • Updating care plans and risk assessment to reflect any increases or decreases in the Client’s package of care.  Follow through with reporting to Rota Management and care staff to ensure actioned. Update Staff plan accordingly and provide a copy of the care plan for the Client file held in the office.
  • Completion of Client reviews.
  • Ensure all new referrals and any changes to Clients care package are implemented on the system and communicated to care staff and Rota Management.
  • Attend meetings with Client and/or next of kin as well as the Trust to resolve identified issues.
  • Assisting quality department in the investigation and resolution of quality issues and complaints.  Complete relevant paperwork and follow up action points identified. (Maximum of 20 workings days to resolve).

Commissioner

To promote and develop Homecare by:

  • Weekly contact with commissioner to ensure smooth maintenance of existing business and identify areas of further development.
  • Attend scheduled and ad-hoc Client reviews with Trust personnel as requested and/or provide written report in advance of review.
  • Report, record and action all changes of Clients well-being and package of care.
  • Report, record and action all complaints and adverse incidents.
  • Promoting Homecare at all times and report on any potential new areas of business.
  • Ensure budgeted hours are met and increased.

Care Staff

To manage, support and develop a team of care assistants by

  • Having responsibility for ensuring cover is sourced and secured for all Clients.
  • Sign off of all care assistant holiday requests and advise Rota Management of same.
  • Completion of staff formal supervisions
  • Completion of annual appraisals with all staff in designated area.( 1per year)
  • Attend investigatory and disciplinary meetings.  Complete full investigatory minutes and report to personnel.
  • Completion of Return to work interviews
  • Hold team meetings and organizing venues for same. (Obtain a Purchase order from Regional Manager for the same).
  • Attend induction training.
  • Complete announced and unannounced assessments in the absence of the team leader or as and when required.
  • Completion of monthly team meetings in conjunction with the Team Leader.

Recording and Reporting

  • Complete KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) and report to Regional Manager at fortnightly meeting.
  • Be responsible for the completion of good quality computer and written records; in line with company policies and procedures, including accurate inputting of information onto the in-house management system –Staffplan.

General Responsibilities

Other duties:

  • Provide information on the area to personnel for the company newsletter.
  • Ensure safety of both Clients and care staff complies with policy by ensuring risk assessments and equipment is in place and serviced accordingly.
  • Promote effective communication
  • Assist the On-call facility in an advisory capacity on a rota basis.
  • Be able to cover the Rota Management general duties in any absence, assuming their role and responsibilities.

Personal Development

  • Maintain professional knowledge and competence on both company policies and regulatory standards
  • Attend training courses and updates as deemed necessary and in accordance with NISCC standards.

Special Conditions

This post requires the holder to be available at varying times, which may include early morning and late evening work.  The post holder may be required to work weekends and bank holidays when required. 

  • To carry out other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the post and the needs of the organisation in order to develop and maintain service delivery. 
  • The post requires the holder to have a clear disclosure check in accordance with the regulatory body Access NI. 
  • Ensure all information of confidential nature is not divulged to third parties
