A bank worker is someone that maybe called on to work as and when required but who does not have any guaranteed hours and who works spasmodically with no set pattern of work. There is no obligation on the bank worker to accept work offered.
Bank workers are only used to cover crisis or emergency situations to fulfil staffing level requirements e.g. to cover contracted staff’s illness or annual leave.
Bank workers are not contracted employees and neither MindWise or the bank worker is under any obligation to the other i.e. for MindWise to offer work or the bank worker to accept work offered.
Essential Criteria
Committed to achieving OCN Level 2 qualification in Appropriate Adults within 1 month of employment
Must be able to demonstrate a minimum of 6 months experience of providing support to juveniles, mentally
- disordered or mentally vulnerable people.
OR
- Demonstrate a minimum of 1 years experience of providing advocacy and guidance type support in another care setting.
OR
- Demonstrate personal experience of having being affected by mental illness.
Knowledge of relevant parts of the criminal justice system including police procedures and the role of the appropriate adult.
Knowledge of mental health and learning disability.
Knowledge of working with the PSNI, other statutory agencies and the voluntary sector.
Must be able to demonstrate experience of working with basic computer packages, the internet and emails.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a check via the Access(NI) Service and the Independent Safeguarding Authority before commencement of employment.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must live (or work) in, or in close proximity to, the police authority area. (NI)
Must have access to transport to enable meeting the requirements of the role.
Willing to travel throughout Northern Ireland
Be able to demonstrate flexibility in working unsocial hours include evening, early mornings, weekends and public holidays. This includes participating in an oncall rota which operates between the hours of 11pm and 8 am.
