The legislation necessary to create a Charity Commission for Northern Ireland passed through its final stage in the Assembly on Monday 30 June. Now the Bill approved the search is on for NI first Charity Commissioners.

The CIVICUS World Assembly - a forum for international civil society representatives to exchange ideas and experiences and to collaborate on strategies for a just society – will take place in Glasgow from 18-21 June. The Code of Good Governance for the voluntary and community sector will be officially launched on the 6 June 2008 at a special seminar in NICVA by the Developing Governance Group. 
The launch on 29 April, 10.30–12.30pm at the Ecos Centre, Ballymena will debate the growing acknowledgement of the vital role that the voluntary and community sector plays in the provision of services. It will question whether the third sector has grown sufficiently to demonstrate the high standards of professionalism in its leadership, organisation and service delivery necessary to compete in a changing environment.
Environment Minister Arlene Foster has announced the key decisions on the future shape of local government.
