This month's round up

Crisis over Neighbourhood Renewal

Unsurprisingly at the top of the agenda this month is the Neighbourhood Renewal crisis, with NICVA leading the voluntary and community sector to urge the Minister to put an end to the delays and save vital services. As we go to print significant progress has been made, but NICVA will continue to press the Minister for assurances.

Assent for Charities Act

Also in the news is the welcome announcement of Royal Assent for the Charities Act and the imminent creation of a new Charity Commission for Northern Ireland.

Positive Steps a missed opportunity

NICVA has reached the end of a three year monitoring process for Positive Steps, and the overall findings suggest that it has been a missed opportunity to radically overhaul the funding environment and how the government and the sector interact.

Promoting social economy - a new partnership for NICVA

This month NICVA and UCIT have launched a new partnership project, signalling the start of a long term relationship. The project is aimed at increasing ways in which social economy and finance messages get into the mainstream of the voluntary and community sector.
