Technology bargains
This month brings welcome news of a £20 million technology boost for voluntary and community groups. Technology giants Microsoft, Cisco and Symantec are contributing to the Charity Technology eXchange (CTX), run by the Charity Technology Trust, which will help charities access modern information and communications technology.
Funding cuts
On the downside, funding or lack of it remains high on the agenda. The committee of MLAs responsible for scrutinising the work of the Department for Social Development is to hold one of its meetings at NICVA and we intend to take the opportunity to push the case for an integrated approach to funding in the sector. This comes in the light of recent public sector 'efficiencies' which have resulted in cuts to our sector. Any stories you'd like to share on this would really assist our case. Contact Neil Irwin if you'd like to help.
Governance code
Hard work on governance is to be rewarded by the launch of the new Code of Good Governance, which will help organisations develop best practice within their organisations.
Training
As the summer weather takes a turn for the better, NICVA's Training Calendar is coming nicely to the boil with some hot new courses from strategic planning to media skills - check the training pages for details.
Volunteering
June also sees the arrival of Volunteers' Week which celebrates a core activity of many of our members - volunteering.
Finally we want to hear your news.
Got a story?
If you'd like some publicity for your event or you've got a story to share, why not submit it for publication in NICVA News? The deadline is the first Tuesday of each month (except July and December) and we publish a month ahead.
