The Action Plan is designed to deliver the three key objectives contained in the Cross-Departmental Strategy:

  • to increase awareness of the sector and establish its value to the local economy;
  • to develop the sector and increase its business strength; and
  • to create a supportive and enabling environment.

The first two years of the implementation of the Strategy saw progress across a wide range of IDSG activity with varying degrees of success across all three objectives. The third year focussed on developing a more integrated approach, and putting in place structures to support the development and long term sustainability of the Northern Ireland social economy sector.
