An exciting new project representing the diversity of culture in Portadown has been launched this week.

Culture 2000 which has now closed. Culture 2007 will begin in 2007 and it is hoped that the first call for Culture 2007 will be launched in the Autumn of 2006 (though there is the possibility that it may be delayed until early in 2007).

The Ulster-Scots Agency's published its business plan earlier this year showing the breakdown of funding to programmes. The largest proportion of funding is on its own staff and running costs (34% or £717,000).

Arts Council reopens Support for Individual Artist Programmes and pays for General Arts Awards with National Lottery funds. (General Arts Awards were previously supported by exchequer funds).

The Arts Council has opened a new scheme modelled on the Awards for All scheme but not funded by the National Lottery for Protestant communities. Place, Identity and Art is a £200,000 programme.

The Creative Youth Partnership Touring Programme supports existing productions, workshops and exhibitions to reach wider audiences of children and young people. Applications are invited from professional arts companies and artists working together.

A number of major EU funding programmes proposed to be extended and updated for the 2007 - 2013 period has been passed by the European Council of Ministers.
