NICVA wants to encourage the voluntary and community sector to make a big response to the Big Lottery Fund's consultation on its future programmes in Northern Ireland.

International Volunteer Day is celebrated every year on 5 December. This year the Volunteer Development Agency will be celebrating the day by promoting a new resource called Volunteer - Play Your Part, which is now available in five languages.

The Big Lottery Fund is urging organisations and individuals across the UK to engage in the debate on how BIG’s funding should be allocated through its grant programmes between 2009 and 2015. BIG is expecting to distribute over £2 billion over the coming years.

The Woodland Trust, the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity, today acknowledged its invaluable network of volunteers, with 13 volunteers across the UK receiving awards for their support.
