Trócaire is planning an exciting initiative as part of its annual Lenten campaign in 2008.
The theme of the 2008 Lenten campaign is Climate Change and how its impacts are hitting the poorest people in the world hardest. In many places droughts are now more frequent and prolonged. These have a devastating affect on people who depend on rainfall to grow food and survive. In other countries increased flooding is also having a dramatic effect on people's lives, often causing them to lose their belongings or migrate in search of work.
As part of our national campaign on climate change Trócaire intends working with local groups to highlight the consequences of climate change and why tackling the problem is urgent and important.
I would like to invite your organisation to produce a banner, poster, or collage that reflects your own concerns about climate change and the impacts it is having on the poor in developing countries. Contributions will be exhibited at a national event at the end of Lent (April/May 2008) to which all participating groups will be invited.
If you would like to find out more about this initiative and how Trocaire can work with your organisation on the issue of climate change and developing countries, please contact Lawrence Mcbride on 028 9080 8030 or by email at lmcbride@trocaire.ie.
