Find that story!

On the phone, over a cup of coffee, at home or in the pub, we all enjoy catching up with friends and family and sharing a good story.

If you have an eye for a story, a good ear for listening and a way with words, then read on…

Story Finders is an exciting project which will provide six groups with the opportunity to gather stories for the internet, radio and television.

If you think you are a natural ‘Story Finder’ who could motivate and inspire people in your community to share stories, then visit the Story Finders website at www.storyfinders.co.uk to complete a form.

The form can also be printed off and sent to:

Story Finders Coordinator,
c/o Broadcasting House, Ormeau Avenue,
Belfast BT2 8HQ.

Story Finders groups will be set up in each county and will be involved in creating an independent website which will belong to their community and will reflect stories from their local area. Groups are still to be identified in counties Armagh, Tyrone and Fermanagh.

Story Finders groups will be expected to pass on the skills they have learned so that others can share their stories as well. Most of us don’t realise we have a story to tell so an important aspect of the project will be helping others to ‘find’ their own stories.

Video, stills and audio recording equipment and training will be provided and support and guidance will be available throughout the life of this two-year project.

Storytellers contributing to the Story Finders project may also have their stories featured on BBC programmes or indeed developed into a whole programme.

Story Finders is part funded by the Department of Finance and Personnel and BT, with support from NICVA.
