During a recent visit by the NICVA Policy, Lobbying and Advocacy Forum to Parliament Buildings, Stormont, North Antrim MLA, Mervyn Storey encouraged the voluntary and community sector to make their voice heard in the corridors of power.

"These are interesting times with a new Programme For Government to hopefully be ratified by the end of January. Currently we are in a four party mandatory coalition but parties realise that they can no longer remain within their respective silos and we are moving towards voluntary politics"
The recently published Draft Programme For Government is not set in ‘Tablets of Stone’ and changes may have to be made. Mr Storey also added:
"It is naïve for MLA’s to think they have all the answers or that they don’t need to interact with representatives such as those on the Policy, Lobbying and Advocacy Forum"
Mr Storey also gave the members of the 'Policy, Lobbying and Advocacy Forum' some advice on how to interact successfully with MLA’s’
Membership of the forum is drawn from across the voluntary and community sector and is open to any organisation with an interest in policy, lobbying and advocacy.
