Social Development Minister Margaret Ritchie has urged more business and community leaders to help charities make a huge difference to less privileged people in society.
She was speaking at the gala dinner for the presentation of the NICVA Link Awards which recognise the tremendous support businesses, schools, colleges, clubs and societies give to good causes.
The Minister said:
"I am truly inspired by the generosity of spirit and purpose which seems to come naturally to the people of Northern Ireland.
"Despite our difficulties and day to day pressures, we are generous with our time, our money and our commitment to help those less fortunate.
"I believe the charity sector has made, and continues to make, an invaluable contribution to our society and I acknowledge and admire the support provided by the business community represented here tonight."
