Autumn policy training opportunities at NICVA

News and information on two policy training events planned for the autumn.

NICVA has planned the first two sessions in a series of policy training events over the autumn/winter period.


Get to know the Northern Ireland Assembly

Friday 26 September 10.00am - 12.30pm

This practical session aims to explain how the NI Assembly works with a particular focus on how voluntary and community organisations can use the Assembly to bring their issues to the attention of MLAs and Ministers. Further information is available here. The session will include:

  • The procedures of the Assembly, including the various types of debates.
  • The roles of the various scrutiny bodies such as statutory committees and standing committees.
  • How legislation is passed.


Making Policy Work for You

Friday 17 October 10.00am - 1.00pm

A session designed to equip participants with the information and skills to get involved in the policy process in a more productive and positive way. Attendees will learn about where policy comes from, how government develops policy, what a good consultation should look like, and all you need to know to respond to policy consultations. Further information on the training is available here.

Booking information

The cost for each session is £50 per participant for members and £70 for non-members. To register please contact cathy.breslin@nicva.org. If you are unable to attend you must inform NICVA five working days in advance otherwise you will be invoiced the full cost of the course. l
