The Northern Ireland Community Builders Programme is a partnership programme that aims to build co-operation and communication at a local level between the community, police and statutory sectors by promoting an inclusive partnership approach to community building and civil society in Northern Ireland.
The programme includes a two week tailor made programme at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and a placement with a community based or government organisation involved in community or social development in New York City for four weeks from 14 September to 14 October 2006. Participants are selected from the police, community and statutory agencies. Participants are recruited from across Northern Ireland.
Topics covered at Columbia include public management, leading and managing strategically, conflict resolution, globalisation, community building and the importance of partnership, and public safety in community building.
Applications should be received by 3.00pm on Monday 10 April 2006.
