Glasswalkers and Firewalkers from across Northern Ireland gathered at Hilden Brewery, just outside Lisburn for a Fire’N’Ice Extravaganza organised by the Cedar Foundation.

After a motivational seminar the Firewalkers walked across 20 feet of wood embers burning at 1200 degrees

This was the first Fire’N’Ice organised by The Cedar Foundation, a charity working with disabled people in Northern Ireland and we are delighted that well over £4000 was raised at the event by the 17 people who took part.

All of the funds will go towards developing and delivering services for people with disabilities throughout Northern Ireland.

An inspirational and barrier breaking experience

Fire Walking is an inspirational and barrier breaking experience for all concerned. In simple terms, after a motivational seminar the Firewalkers walked across 20 feet of wood embers burning at 1200 degrees Fahrenheit without experiencing any pain or injury.

The way to walk on glass is exactly the opposite of the way in which to walk on hot coals: glass demands slow focused moments of extreme concentration. This practice teaches us to pay attention.

Christine Tweedie, Fundraising Officer with The Cedar Foundation, and one of the participants, explained more:

"The effects of the training session have long lasting benefits in your personal life, an increased awareness on how to achieve your goals and an enhanced view of your potential to succeed.

"The challenge was incredible and I can truly say that it was a fantastic experience, I would recommend it to anyone; after all if you can do this you can do anything".
