The next meeting of NICVA's community relations forum will feature an interactive workshop on understanding the complexities of community relationships in mixed areas.

The community relations policy forum will be held in Ballynafeigh Community House, Belfast on Thursday 11 September from 2.30pm - 4.30pm.

Workshop

A section of the meeting will take the form of a workshop facilitated by Ballynafeigh on encouraging shared physical spaces. The workshop will look at understanding the complexities of community relationships in mixed areas. Participants will be asked to place themselves in various roles and understand the position from that point of view.

Policy

The forum is chaired by Anne McKay from Ballynafeigh Community Development Association and is an opportunity for interested organisations seeking to engage more effectively with government on community relations policy to share information and good practice within the community relations field.

NICVA facilitates seven other policy fora for specific issue and interest groups:

  • Women
  • Older People
  • Environmental
  • Local and global poverty
  • Voluntary and Community Arts
  • Lobbying and advocacy
  • Men

NICVA's policy forum work aims to encourage greater participation and enhance the
capacity of the voluntary and community sector to engage more proactively in policy
issues, influence policy development and make policy responses.
